Writing

I've now got a (very) rough first draft of Hawke's book, and it's time to start the second draft. This is where I begin to smooth out the chapters, fill in any gaps, move scenes around, add and occasionally delete scenes, and more.

It's exciting to see the book taking shape. :)

I second that. I am too excited. I can hardly wait to get my hands into that book. How many months until released? .....None is counting, who says that?

Very exciting news! I hope the second draft goes smoothly Nalini!

I'll be interested to see who Hawke's heroine is. I know everyone has an opinion, and who the front-runner is, but...I'm not so sure...

That was fast. How long does it normally take to write the first draft of a novel?

@Cherry - I like to do a first draft in approx 3-4 weeks. And, it is very much a first draft. I think a good way to put it would be to say that this draft is the structure upon which the story will be built.

Some writers do detailed outlines and plans, others do fast first drafts. Both work - just depends on the author's preference.

Exciting to get to the next stage, Nalini. And although the first draft is always a wild exciting ride, I think that the second draft and being able to move text in and out an around the manuscript is pretty turned exciting as well. Keep having fun with it.

(Initially I wrote 'first draft' as first darft, or 'daft'--does it ever feel like that, too? :-) )

Hi! I just discovered this! I started with Ms Singh's stories with the angel ones, and then decided to try the psy/changeling... so far I've made it to Dev's story, which I'll be starting tomorrow, even if I'm not too excited about it because I hated (HATED) Talin, and therefore all the characters that appeared in that book are not my favs... (BTW, I'm so glad we don't get to see much of her in the rest of the books)
Aaanyway, I'm really glad she's finally going with Hawke and Sienna's story!! I've been rooting for them since book one. I adore how she can be a total pain in the as* for him! Serves him right for being totally blind, I almost cheered when she went into the woods with Kit at the end of BBF Them, and Dorian/Ashaya and Mercy/Riley are the best!

Hey we all love Hawke and cannot wait to see his book. Just a quick comment. I know that you will not give us the name of the Heroine. (You are a sadist that way) however please consider the fact that thousands of lives will be ruined if we read the book and it is NOT Sienna. Do you really want to have that responsibility? LOL

oh this is so exciting.... I can't wait for this. I've been waiting for like ever for this. Please let Hawke's heroine be Sienna. It can't be anyone else!! You gave us a teaser in I think Riley's story so please, please, let it be Sienna :) They will be so good together!! Hawke is just so ALPHA and I want to see how he handles the mating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
